  Many thanks to our generous supporters who are helping to keep culture alive in SW Washington and young minds inspired.

In 1999 Tim and Victoria Racz were asked by music students to form a youth symphony specially for them, in their city. Portland has two youth symphonies and the fact that Vancouver had none made these young musicians feel as if they weren't appreciated, or talented enough. So, the Racz's moved to Vancouver and formed the Junior Symphony of Vancouver especially for these wonderful kids. They have been building this successful organization since then. We greatly appreciate those sponsors who have helped keep your Junior Symphony alive. We are still seeking sponsors for other necessities such as sheet music, stands, coaching fees, advertising, etc., and appreciate any help. If you can contribute, please let us know. Remember that the identity of a city is created through its culture, and Vancouver is still struggling to find its place.

Hendrick Willem Van Loon (1882-1944) a historian and writer said: "The Arts are an even better barometer of what is happening in our world than the Stock Market or the debates in Congress." We stepped in to make Vancouver and SW Washington a better place to live for you and your children, grandchildren, etc., and now we ask you to do your part.

First Session of the JSV.
The very first session of the Junior Symphony of Vancouver


Participation in the Junior Symphony of Vancouver is by application and audition only, and requires a written recommendation from the applicant’s school music instructor or private lesson teacher. This ensemble is selective, small and continues its tradition of high quality music making.
